EBSCO Academic Search Premier
This general database contains full text articles on a wide range of subjects from hundreds of journals.

Public Affairs Information Service (PAIS)
This database based on the social science holdings of the New York Public Library provides citations to articles, books, reports, and selected government documents on public and foreign policy issues from 1972 forward.  A comprehensive index to policy literature. The print version of PAIS goes back to 1915, and is located in the Social Science Reference Center, Index Shelves under call number 0487.739.

Historical Abstracts
Index of journal articles on world history, excluding the U.S. and Canada, from 1450 to the present.  Covers more than 2100 journals in 40 languages from 1954 forward.

America: History and Life
This companion index to Historical Abstracts indexes journal articles on U.S. and Canadian history.  Covers similar journals as in Historical Abstracts, from 1954 forward.

International Political Science Abstracts
Provides abstracts in English or French to articles selected from over 1,000 international journals. Topics covered include political science method and theory, governmental and administrative institutions, political process, international relations, and national and area studies. Covers material published from 1989 to present.

JSTOR - the Journal Storage Project
JSTOR can be accessed from the Library's Home Page under E-Books, Digital Collections, then Texts, then JSTOR.  JSTOR holds about 100 prominent journals beginning with the first issue.  For some journals, full-text coverage of issues for over 100 hundred years is available.  Even the best electronic indexes typically do not cover articles published prior to 1980.

NEWS SOURCES

LexisNexis Academic
Provides full text access to news from across the U.S. and around the world. Coverage of most newspapers goes back to the mid 1980s, but varies widely. French newspapers, such as Le Monde, Le Figaro and La Libération, are available in the database Non-English Language News.  Also provides access to business, legal, and medical journals.

Historical Newspapers
Provides retrospective coverage in full text of the following newspapers: the Wall Street Journal (1889-1986), the New York Times (1851 – 2001) and the Washington Post (1877 – 1987). Search by keywords and date.

SPECIALIZED DATABASES

ARTFL Project [electronic resource] - Project for American and French Research on the Treasury of the French Language
A full-text database of selected French literary works from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.  Particularly useful for research in French literature.
